Happy Feet Class Experience Requirements

  • Classes with no level description will progress at the average level of the students in the class.
  • 6:00pm Basic Swing Class new students are invited to attend at any week of the month.
  • 7:00pm & 8:00pm Classes progress throughout the month.  Whether you are a new student or an experienced dancer, you are encouraged to start the first week of the month.

INTERMEDIATE CLASSES: To attend an intermediate class, student should have a solid foundation of the basics including timing of that particular dance.  The class will progress at a faster pace.  Improve on your step patterns to gain more confidence in your lead and/or follow.  There will be a deeper concentration on timing, partnership, body positioning, weight transfer and technique.  Be ready to adapt to any situation, the floor, the music, and/or the crowd.

INTERMEDIATE SWING CLASS: Experience another level of swing, with variations and/or extensions to patterns, and more variety of tempo’s(speed)in the music.  Connect 6 count and 8 count patterns together.  Some Lindy and Charleston, too.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED CLASSES: For the more experienced dancer.  Variations to the basics with more fancy footwork, and syncopations.  Technique so you can dance more relaxed and confident.

Balboa I: Basic class-Always open to new students.  Learn the basics/break timing: Become more confident / Smooth it out!

Balboa I & ½: More practice time to work on timing and review.

Balboa II: Intermediate/Advanced class.  Must be able to transition in and out of break time on both Back ½ and Forward ½ of basic. “Count” the beat, do a “Come Around” and a “Tuck” back to a Basic.
